Guess who has another ear infection?

That’s right…Buzz. Grrrr. He is not a big fan of having the medicine put in his ear, either. He walks around like this for several hours afterwards:
“You broke my ear!”

That’s right, his ear freakin’ pouts!

I have been flirting with switching Buzz to a raw diet for a few months now since he’s never had ideal poop on kibble and I have tried several super premium foods and also just let him mature out of puppyhood as my vet suggested…all to no real good. His shit stinks and it is way too squishy. **yuck** The poo of raw-fed dogs is less than half the size of kibble-fed dogs and is said to be “neat and light.” Ooooo…I’ll take it!

Anyway, this new ear infection is the final straw. I think his slight food allergies just keep his immune system impaired enough that he has no resistance to these things.

So, on the 15th, Buzz is going raw! I’m researching it all now and getting myself very confused but I have found some awesome mentors online and hope to make some local connections so that I can figure it out and get my boy 100% healthy and on the best food possible.

In other news, Buzz has started lifting his leg to pee!

I've noticed over the last few months that Buzz has been marking more as we walk, but lifting his leg is a whole ‘nother realm of fanciness!

He started after our huge snowstorm when there were foot-high snowbanks along the sidewalks, but he’s still doing it sometimes now that the snow has melted!

Of course Buzz likes the vet! What’s not to like? Lots of nice people petting you and telling you nice things and giving you treats!

The hardest thing about going to the vet is that after you check in, you have to go to an examination room and wait for the doctor.

At first, Buzz tries to be a patient patient.

But that gets boring after a while…

So he starts staring at the doors to the exam room. There are two doors, so it is hard to know which one to watch.

His head goes from one to the other like he’s watching a tennis match. Which one will give us Dr. Clark?

Eventually, Buzz remembers that Dr. Clark always comes through the door on the far side of the room. He heads over there to look for her…"Helllloooooo? Dr. Clark? It’s me, your favorite doggy!”

“Well, since she’s delayed, maybe I’ll just make sure that this room is properly set up.”

“Everything seems to be in order.”

“Nice and sanitary!”

It’s a good thing Dr. Clark hasn’t seen Buzz’s nosey ways, she has Buzz down as a “nice dog” in her file. Really! It says that! Makes a food lady proud. I think I already told you about that, but I don't care, I'm still chuffed about it!

“Hey, lady, please post the pictures of me helping you drive!”

I usually call him Buzz Buzz Full of Fuzz, but maybe...

...he is full of love?

This is the look Buzz will give you get after you walk him and play fetch with him and teach him something new and give him some treats and then walk with him some more and then take him back to the house and snap a picture just before you unlock the door. He knows that his breakfast is in there and he can nap while you work and he is happy.

But maybe Buzz is full of gunk? Buzz has an ear infection of the yeasty variety. He feels a little bit icky, but not too bad. Just about this much icky...

At the vet, Buzz was officially declared a "nice dog." The vet wrote that on his chart. Aww....I was so proud. But is he Buzz Buzz Full of Nice??? Nah, it's fuzz in there!!! Fuzz, I tell you!

been a while...

It has been a while, since I was on here! In part, this is because Buzz has had a fortnight of misfortune. It all started with the lump in his lip, which continued to grow and so I needed to take him in for surgery. My vet told me it would cost over $400 for the surgery to neuter Buzz, close his herniated umbilical, and aspirate & possibly remove his lip's lump. So, I had to find a new vet. After a fair amount of research, I found a great one and had everything done for $250. The lump in his lip was a benign cyst. They think he had an injury that over-healed.

Following surgery, I needed to keep Buzz quiet for almost a week--not the easiest of tasks!

After 5 days of leash walking only, Buzz and I went to the woods and I let him run. He did great. The next day, however, he went crazy. He was happily trotting behind me. The next thing I know he's in midair right next to my shoulder! Keep in mind that I'm almost 6 feet tall! I think he jumped at least 6 feet along the path and 4 feet up! He seemed fine and we finished our hike and went home. But, after resting in the house for a while, the next time he got up, he was very wobbly. So, we were back on leash walking and quiet-time to see if he would continue to wobble (possible ACL injury) or would go back to normal (just a pulled muscle). Thankfully he got better.

Also happening during these past few weeks: 1 bout of diarrhea. 1 cut paw. 1 nail trimmed too close to the quick. 1 unfortunate encounter with the neighbor's bad dog.

Does Buzz seem any worse for the wear?
