Where does he come up with this stuff?

This crazy horizontal spazz ballet?

Buzz has a daily lovefest celebration for snow and winter and being outside and being free.

He has a genius for happiness, this dog of mine, and it is a joy to watch.

Excusez-moi?

Yes, Buzz?
That was the alarm clock, no?
Yes, it was.
So we walk?
It is below zero out there, Buzz. It is so far below freezing I can't even express it. Let's just sleep in instead.
I am impervious. Walk! Walk!
Sigh.

This is what the non-impervious-lady must wear in this cold:

What astounds me is that Buzz still stops and smells things in the cold. What is there to smell? Isn't it all frozen?

And he still rolls around in the snow. So weird.

Speaking of weird, I love the random leg sticking up.

What could that be? Is someone coming?

No, Buzz, no one else is idiotic enough to come out in this weather.

And what to my wondering eyes

should appear, but my neighbor's dog Tucker, who has funny ears!

Every now and then Buzz goes completely ape while looking out the window. He does that because Tucker not only knows how to *unlock and open* the back door of his own home, but how to sneak into Buzz's yard! Of course I let Buzz out to have a wrestle with his buddy. : ) I realize that I am, in essence, rewarding Tucker for his bad escape-y ways, but I figure that it keeps Tucker from running off towards busy streets and Tucker lets me leash him walk him home after the boys have worn each other out.

(what is this move?)

whooosh!

Today, we had a nice fresh layer of snow and Buzz and I were about a half mile from home when Tucker came running up the sidewalk to join us! What a surprise. Good thing I carry an extra leash!

I called Tucker's home from my cell phone and no one answered, so I left a message, and took Tucker to the woods with us where there were many fine things to smell...

and chase...

and then Buzz leashed up Tucker, and I leashed up Buzz and we went back to our street.

No one was home yet at Tucker's house (yes, I did close the door for them).

But after a few minutes in the yard, one of Tucker's boys appeared and took him home.

Until next time, Tuck!

By the way, yes the computer is back up and running and I can now get images off of my proper camera. It's funny, but not having seen full size images of Mr. Buzz for a while, I've been giggling at how happy he looks in so many of them. What a poopsie.

Letting a sheepdog be a sheepdog.

It is still very icy out there.

Buzz has a hard time staying upright. Look at his rear paw in this picture…see the skid mark?

I hope the weather changes soon because…DRAMATIC DRUM ROLL…Buzz is going on sheep as soon as the ice clears. Now we’ll see how much real border collie stuffing he’s got in his head with all that fuzz!

I asked Buzz if he wants some woolies and this is what he did:

ummm….hmmmm…

He is drivey.

He definitely has some of the mannerisms of a sheepdog down.

He makes completely accurate forecasts of the weather by tasting the air.

Oh wait, the last thing was not accurate.

Ha ha ha.

I’m sorry that I lied to you.

Okay, no I’m not.

In any case, here’s a cool video of a young border collie who has just started on sheep. I hope I can post a Buzz-on-Sheep video soon!

March Madness

Buzz's new favorite game: breaking ice on the lake.

He still enjoys making snow angels.

And spring's approach means lots of fun mud puddles!

Making puppy angels in the snow.

As long as we are talking winter, here are some pictures I took after an ice storm last month. The ice storm took out a lot of trees in my neighborhood, but DANG was it gorgeous!

99 seconds with Buzz

I took all these pictures today at the park, check it out!

been a while...

It has been a while, since I was on here! In part, this is because Buzz has had a fortnight of misfortune. It all started with the lump in his lip, which continued to grow and so I needed to take him in for surgery. My vet told me it would cost over $400 for the surgery to neuter Buzz, close his herniated umbilical, and aspirate & possibly remove his lip's lump. So, I had to find a new vet. After a fair amount of research, I found a great one and had everything done for $250. The lump in his lip was a benign cyst. They think he had an injury that over-healed.

Following surgery, I needed to keep Buzz quiet for almost a week--not the easiest of tasks!

After 5 days of leash walking only, Buzz and I went to the woods and I let him run. He did great. The next day, however, he went crazy. He was happily trotting behind me. The next thing I know he's in midair right next to my shoulder! Keep in mind that I'm almost 6 feet tall! I think he jumped at least 6 feet along the path and 4 feet up! He seemed fine and we finished our hike and went home. But, after resting in the house for a while, the next time he got up, he was very wobbly. So, we were back on leash walking and quiet-time to see if he would continue to wobble (possible ACL injury) or would go back to normal (just a pulled muscle). Thankfully he got better.

Also happening during these past few weeks: 1 bout of diarrhea. 1 cut paw. 1 nail trimmed too close to the quick. 1 unfortunate encounter with the neighbor's bad dog.

Does Buzz seem any worse for the wear?

What a good boy!

[Buzz asked me to add this postscript]

The snow, it is falling!
